Eilean Scents — E-commerce Case Study
How we designed, built and now manage a full online shop for a Scottish fragrance business — product catalogue, payments, customer accounts and an admin dashboard.
The Challenge
A new Scottish fragrance business needed to sell online — properly.
What the client needed
Eilean Scents makes handmade fragrance products — candles, soaps, body butters, beard oils and bath products. They needed a shop that could grow with the business, not a quick template that would need replacing in a year.
The essentials: a product catalogue with real photos and variants, a cart and checkout with card payments, customer accounts with saved addresses and payment methods, and a way for the owner to manage products and orders without calling a developer every time.

What We Built
A complete online shop, not a brochure with a buy button.
Shop & Product Pages
A clean catalogue with product photos, descriptions, pricing and variants — built to load fast on a phone, which is where most customers browse.
Cart & Checkout
A cart that keeps products saved, and a checkout with secure card payments via Stripe — the payment layer used by millions of online shops.
Customer Accounts
Sign-up and sign-in, saved addresses and payment methods, and an account area where customers can track what they've ordered.
Admin Dashboard
An owner-side dashboard for products, stock and orders — so the client can run the shop day to day without a developer in the loop.

The tech, in plain English
The site runs on a modern web framework (Next.js) with a fast, lightweight database behind it (PocketBase) for products, orders and accounts, and Stripe handling card payments securely — your customers' card details never touch the site itself.
That combination is fast on mobile, secure by default, and easy to extend. If Eilean Scents wants subscriptions, a loyalty scheme or new payment options later, the foundations are already in place.

Where It Stands

The shop is live and taking orders, with the client managing products and orders from the admin dashboard. We handle hosting, backups, security and ongoing changes under our care plans — the same optional £25/mo hosting and £40/mo management we offer every client.
